90 Days to JAM Summit

Wow!!! Its 90 days to JAMSummit2017 and we are super excited. To commemorate today lets just share with you some facts about 90.

-Its the number of minutes played in a football match; *I guess we all know that one*
-It is the number of degrees in a right angle; *Very simple arithmetic fact*
– The world record for the fastest growing plant belongs to certain species of the 45 genera of bamboo, which have been found to grow approximately 90 cm (35 in) per day or at a rate of 0.00003 km/h (0.00002 mph). *So you can be a bamboo farmer*
–  90 days years ago, Charles Lindbergh flew The Spirit of St. Louis across the Atlantic nonstop and solo, direct from New York City to Paris, as the first solo transatlantic flight. The feat of Charles Lindbergh was even more remarkable when you realize that 1 in every 2 pilots who attempted crossing the Atlantic was killed during the attempt. Governments around the world were looking at some form of Pilots License being implemented.

We hope these little facts were educative. We urge you to Pay, Plan and Pray for JAMSummit2017

I’m sure you are familiar with the word “parable”, another word that has a similar meaning and can be used in place of parable is “allegory”.

Allegory – An expressive style that uses fictional characters and events to describe some subject by suggestive resemblances; an extended metaphor.

One of the things I have learnt listening to Pst. Poju Oyemade is how to process stories or examples in the Bible. You see, the Bible is not just a book of history, the stories and examples documented are not just meant to tell us what has happened in times past, they also serve as allegories, telling you and I what is happening today. So when you read a portion of the Bible and it seems to describe you or something you are going through, it’s because God is trying to tell you something.

For example, read through Ezekiel 37. God took to the prophet to a valley filled with dry bones and asked him if the bones could live again, and his answer was, “Lord, only you know”. Then God told him what to say and when he did, the bones started to come together, and the process went on till complete living beings were formed. Allegorically, what are your dry bones? Do you have dreams or aspirations that now seem so far fetched because your current reality doesn’t seem like they can still happen? This morning, God is asking you, can those “dry bones” live again?  Remember, Hebrew 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever[GW]. So, if dry bones could become living beings back then, who says dead dreams can become a living reality! God Bless You!

When God is Your Strength

Psalm 84:4-7 (GNB)

How happy are those who live in your Temple, always singing praise to you. How happy are those whose strength comes from you, who are eager to make the pilgrimage to Mount Zion. As they pass through the dry valley of Baca, it becomes a place of springs; the autumn rain fills it with pools. They grow stronger as they go; they will see the God of gods on Zion.

In John 7:37 and 38, Jesus said that when we believe in Him and we come and drink from Him, rivers of living water will flow out from our inside. By rivers of living water, He was referring to the divine grace and abilities of the Holy Spirit. We drink from Jesus by exercising faith in Him and by fellowshipping with Him. When we fellowship with God, we stir up His life and resurrection power that is at work on the inside of us.

By the divine grace and abilities of the Holy Spirit, we will find ourselves knowing and being able to do that which we would ordinarily have been unable to do. Things that are difficult or impossible for others will be easy and possible for us. We will become fountains of life wherever we find ourselves. Joy and praise will continue to emanate from our hearts and mouths and others will rejoice and praise God because of our lives. Our lives will keep advancing from strength to strength and from glory to glory.

Even as we are passing through dead valleys, we will turn those valleys into springs of life. This is what made Paul and Silas turn the prison they were placed in into a Holy Ghost revival meeting where souls were eventually saved, Acts 16:22-34. Dead things around us will receive life and they will work again. Joseph caused everything in Potiphar’s house to begin to function again, Gen.39:3. Jacob turned Laban’s livestock business around, Gen.30:27-30. You also will turn things and the lives of people around with God’s life and strength.

PRAYER FOCUS: Ask God for His joy and strength to be stirred up in you today so that you will give hope and life unto others.
