John 15:15-16 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant
knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things
that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not
chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and
bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall
ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
You are so valuable that God had to send Jesus Christ to save you! God also chose you to be an authorized ambassador of Christ on this earth. Doesn’t it baffle you sometimes that Jesus has sent us into the world in the same way the Father sent Him, John 17:18? The way you view yourself will affect the way you carry yourself. God wants you to see yourself the way He sees you and He wants you to carry yourself as His representative and ambassador on this Earth. Begin to see yourself as God’s friend and partner on the Earth.
There are so many scriptures like Ephesians 3:7-8 wherein Apostle Paul describes his amazement that God had chosen him to be a minister and a witness for Christ. God knew you before He formed you in your mother’s womb and He ordained you to be His servant, Jer.1:5.
You are a valuable part of the body of Christ and you are very important to God. There are things you can contribute that no one else could in the exact way you would do it. God has loaded you with potential and gifts. He has also filled and anointed you with His Spirit and endowed you with divine ability to be fruitful. You will walk in the Spirit and your life will impact the lives of others for God. God delights in you. Resist the urge to devalue and demean yourself. You are valuable and precious to God.
Prayer Focus: Worship God and thank Him for the great love and value that He has
placed on your life. Ask Him to use you to bless and touch the lives of
Psalm 118:22-24, Psalm 47:1: The stone which the builders refused is
become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD’S doing; it is
marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it. *O clap your hands, all ye people;
shout unto God with the voice of triumph
Your seeing this day is the Lord’s doing and it is a marvelous thing indeed. Despite all that the devil had in mind for you this year, you survived, persevered and are still standing. Nothing can stop the plan of God for your life. Nothing can stop you from rejoicing because God is for you. Let today be a day of rejoicing for you! The grace of God that has brought you thus far will take you even further in God’s will and plans for your life.
As you rejoice in God today, even greater miracles will be attracted into your life both today and in the coming year. There are miracles that can still take place in your life, even today. Your joy and rejoicing can do amazing things. The joy of the Lord is your strength. You will end this year rejoicing and will enter the new year rejoicing.
Think about God’s mercy and think about God’s grace. Meditate on the major things that God taught and revealed to you this year. Do not think about your pains and difficult times. Think on good things. Think about the things that God did for you and brought you through. Like David, recollect about the lions and bears that God delivered you from. Reflect on the moments you felt you had no hope, but yet God came through for you. Think about the “lifting up” that God miraculously ordered in your life. Choose not to focus on your moments of rejection.
You are a victor in Christ Jesus. God who always causes you to triumph in Christ (2Cor.2:14) will continue to make you triumphant.
Prayer Focus: Thank God again for bringing you victoriously to the end of another glorious year. Thank God for His faithfulness in your life and thank Him for the greater faithfulness He has in mind for you in the new year.
Isaiah 42:9, Isaiah 43:18-19: Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. *Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
In the same way an angel of God appeared to Mary to inform her of the new thing that God wanted to do in her life, I pray that this season you will receive divine visitations and revelations from God about the new things He wants to do in your life both now and in the coming year.
God is declaring new things and like our text above says, He wants to tell you of them before they spring forth. As you fellowship with God, He will reveal these things to you by His Spirit, 1Cor.2:9-10. The Holy Spirit will not only show you things to come, He will prepare you for them.
In this upcoming year, God will not only grant you your heart’s desires,
He will give you things that eyes have not seen, ears have not heard and
minds have not even imagined. He will do glorious things in your life.
What God has in mind for you is far greater than what you have in mind
for yourself, Isa.55:8-9.
You will experience new dimensions of God. New things are going to spring forth out of your life. Do not limit God. As you call on God this season, He will show you great and mighty things that you know not, Jer.33:3. These will include hidden things that He has ordained for your glory, 1Cor.2:7. God wants you to end this year both with gratitude and with hope. Your expectation will not be cut off, Prov.23:18. Prepare yourself for new things.
Prayer Focus: Thank God again for the glorious year that is
ending tomorrow and ask God to prepare you for the new things
that He has in mind for you.
Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give
thee the desires of thine heart.*Jesus saith unto them, My meat
is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
To delight in someone or in something is to be glad, to enjoy and to derive great satisfaction from being with that person or doing that thing. We delight in God by worshipping Him, spending time in His presence and meditating on His Word. We also delight in God by pleasing Him and doing His will.
There are so many blessings tied to delighting in the Lord. Isaiah 58:14 says, “then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it”. Delighting in God’s Word causes us to become like a tree planted by the rivers of water which is always divinely fruitful and prosperous, Psa.1:2-3.
When you delight in something or in someone, the interest with which you engage in that thing or spend time with that person will by far exceed others who are just doing it for doing it sake. You give your whole self to that thing or that person. Delighting in God is the best way to end the year and the best way to prepare for the upcoming year.
There are so many things in life that are designed to excite us, delight us, satisfy us, and also to take our attention. God has given you all things to enjoy but we must never let any of these things take His place in our life.
The real joy and satisfaction that our heart desires comes as we delight in God. Fellowshipping with God enables us to know and do God’s will which is the fastest way to receiving and being satisfied by the things God has in store for us.
Prayer Focus: Express your desire for more of God’s presence and your willingness to know Him more and to do more of His will in this season.
Psalm 127:1-2 (GNB) If the LORD does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless; if the LORD does not protect the city, it does no good for the sentries to stand guard. It is useless to work so hard for a living, getting up early and going to bed late. For the LORD provides for those he loves, while they are asleep.
God does not want us to be troubled for any reason. Instead, He wants us to perpetually rest in Him. Resting in God does not mean that you should not work hard, not pray or fail to do what you know you are to do. It means that you do whatever you do with a strong consciousness of God’s presence, His love, blessings and His promises. You should not fret and worry like people without God and without hope.
It is when we rest in God that God moves and works on our behalf. In the King James version, verse two of our text above says that He gives His beloved sleep. This season, God will give you sleep and rest in every area of your life where you have not been sleeping. When you are physically asleep, you are not conscious or disturbed by what is happening around you. Someone who is at rest in God is also undisturbed by what is happening around him or her. Your heart remains steadfast trusting the
As the year winds down, you will not be anxious and troubled like people of the world may be. You will continue to hear God’s voice and follow His leading into the favour He has prepared for you. Rather than leaning on your own understanding, God will cause you to walk in His understanding because you trust in Him, Prov.3:5. God will be your shepherd. You will not lack and you will have peace. As you pray with thanksgiving, God’s peace will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, Phil.4:6-7.
Prayer Focus: Declare God’s rest and peace over every area of
your life and that of your family today.
Ephesians 5:20, Psalm 103:1-2, Luke 17:15-17 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; *Bless
the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: *And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
The man who was healed of leprosy in our 3rd text above did something that greatly gladdened the heart of Jesus. He did not return to give thanks because he was seeking an additional blessing. He returned to give thanks because he recognized just how great a miracle he had received. He did not take his healing lightly. He turned back and with a loud voice, glorified God. He then fell down on his face at the feet of Jesus and gave thanks.
Jesus was so moved by his attitude that he added a bonus miracle to the man’s healing. He made the man “whole.” As a result, everything that the man had lost as a result of his leprosy was restored to him. That is what thanksgiving can do. Your thanksgiving today is going to usher you into new levels of God’s wholeness and fulness in the coming year. It is going to open new doors of blessing, favour and and increase in your life.
Do not take lightly the grace and mercy that God has bestowed upon you in this outgoing year. With a grateful heart, rejoice and give thanks today.
God is expecting your praise and thanksgiving. In our 3rd text above, Jesus was looking for the other nine who had been healed because He was expecting them to return to give thanks. May you always be found whenever God is seeking a grateful heart. Let thanksgiving continue to well up from your heart unto God. Indeed, it is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High, Psa.92:1
Prayer Focus: Think about God’s goodness in your life this year
and give God praise and thanks from your soul right now.
Isaiah 9:6-7: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Jesus is Lord! All power in Heaven and on earth belongs to Him and every knee will bow and confess that He is Lord. The power and glory of Christ will continue to increase until it fills the whole earth. In Daniel 2:34-35,
Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream concerning a stone that had not been cut out by human hands which toppled over and struck an image on its feet, breaking the image into pieces. The shattered image,
which was comprised of different materials, symbolized varying kingdoms.
The dream did not stop there. This stone then began to grow until it became a great mountain that filled the whole earth. In Daniel 2:44, Daniel interpreted the dream by saying: And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. This stone that came from an unknown origin is Christ and His Kingdom is right now filling the whole earth starting through you and
Christ has come into our lives so that through us He can come into the lives of others and reign in all the earth. As we preach the gospel and do God’s will, we are advancing God’s kingdom and his glory is filling the earth. The grace to go into your world and manifest the dominion of Christ is upon you.
Prayer Focus: Ask God to use you more and more to preach the
gospel of Christ and to advance His kingdom on earth.
John 3:16-18: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that
the world through him might be saved.
What we celebrate today is the amazing love that God showed us by sending Jesus down to this earth for the hope, salvation and redemption of mankind. Jesus was born so that mankind can be saved and born into the kingdom and will of God. This is worth celebrating!
Christ was born so that there would continually be celebration on earth and in heaven, as souls get saved and as men and women become free from condemnation, frustration, affliction and bondage of the enemy.
Luke 2:11, 13-14 says, for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. *And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 15:7 says, I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
It was not when we deserved God’s love that He chose to love us. It was while we were His enemies, Rom.5:8. He did not leave us in our sinful and helpless state under the devil’s dominion. He went all out to redeem us and restore us because of how special His love for us is. For this, Jesus deserves to be celebrated and honoured today and everyday of our lives. I pray that the glory and power of Christ will manifest in your life today in that area where you need it most. I pray for you that your life will constantly be a celebration of the love of God and the saving power of Christ.
Prayer Focus: Celebrate Jesus for coming to show you God’s
great love this season.
Romans 12:1(KJV, GNB): I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Your body is God’s Temple and the Spirit of God lives in you, 1Cor.3:16. God wants to be worshipped at all times in your body. Apart from the worship of praising and adoring God, He wants us to continually surrender our bodies to Him as living sacrifices. He wants us to be in a perpetual state of surrender and yieldedness to Him. He is our Saviour as well as our Lord and King. We owe Him our lives and doing His will at all times should be our priority.
This should not be something we do just once in a while. It is something we are to continue doing. We should always desire to be acceptable and pleasing unto Him. We must please Him always and continue to present ourselves to Him as living sacrifices, ready for His use. This is the greatest worship offering that you can give to God.
You can do this by the help of the Holy Spirit and by God’s mercies. Your consciousness of God’s mercies towards you will fuel your rendering this act of continual sacrifice and worship unto God. You don’t belong to yourself but to God. You did not save yourself. God saved you and gave you the life and purpose you are living now. It is not you that keeps yourself; it is of His mercies that you are not consumed. God deserves to be worshipped, especially with your entire life fully yielded to Him. The grace to continually present yourself unto God as a living sacrifice is upon you today.
Prayer Focus: Tell God today that the reason you live is to worship Him. Dedicate yourself to His will for your life today.
