Daniel 6:19-22 (GNB)
At dawn the king got up and hurried to the pit. When he got there, he called out anxiously, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was the God you serve so loyally able to save you from the lions?” Daniel answered, “May Your Majesty live forever! God sent his angel to shut the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt me. He did this because he knew that I was innocent and because I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.”
There will be times that you will not understand why the attitudes of people around you suddenly changes towards you. In such times, God wants you to trust Him and to maintain a good attitude because His favour will continue to prevail on your behalf. The Bible shows us that all of a sudden, Pharaoh became threatened by the Israelites’ presence in Egypt and decided to start maltreating them.
Exodus 1:8-11. In the Good News Bible, Exodus 1:12 says, but the more the Egyptians oppressed the Israelites, the more they increased in number and the farther they spread through the land. That was the favour of God prevailing on their behalf despite the negative treatment that they were enduring.
The reason Daniel’s colleagues hated him was simply because he exemplified excellence in all he did and had found favour with the king, Dan.6:1-4. Despite all that they eventually did, Daniel held on to God and God’s supreme favour prevailed on his behalf. God’s favour will also prevail on your behalf. Do not allow the negativity of others to weigh you down or affect your attitude towards them. They know not what they are doing and are completely ignorant of how God will turn everything around for your good. Continue to do the right thing: walk in love and continue to pray for them. As Daniel’s colleagues could not find any lapse or loophole in his work to use against him (Dan.6:4), you too must give your best in all that you do, as you maintain high standards of honesty and integrity. God will be your sun and your shield. His favour will prevail in your life.
PRAYER FOCUS: Thank God for His favour that will continue to prevail in your life and receive grace to keep maintaining a good attitude.
