Delight in God

above_only

Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give
thee the desires of thine heart.*Jesus saith unto them, My meat
is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

To delight in someone or in something is to be glad, to enjoy and to derive great satisfaction from being with that person or doing that thing. We delight in God by worshipping Him, spending time in His presence and meditating on His Word. We also delight in God by pleasing Him and doing His will.
There are so many blessings tied to delighting in the Lord. Isaiah 58:14 says, “then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it”. Delighting in God’s Word causes us to become like a tree planted by the rivers of water which is always divinely fruitful and prosperous, Psa.1:2-3.
When you delight in something or in someone, the interest with which you engage in that thing or spend time with that person will by far exceed others who are just doing it for doing it sake. You give your whole self to that thing or that person. Delighting in God is the best way to end the year and the best way to prepare for the upcoming year.
There are so many things in life that are designed to excite us, delight us, satisfy us, and also to take our attention. God has given you all things to enjoy but we must never let any of these things take His place in our life.
The real joy and satisfaction that our heart desires comes as we delight in God. Fellowshipping with God enables us to know and do God’s will which is the fastest way to receiving and being satisfied by the things God has in store for us.

Prayer Focus: Express your desire for more of God’s presence and your willingness to know Him more and to do more of His will in this season.
