Reflect on Christ’s Humility

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.Philippians 2:5-8

The powerful thing about reflecting on Christ’s character and nature is that the more we do so, the more the Spirit of God transforms us and causes us to manifest that same character and nature in our lives, 2Cor.3:18 Indeed, Jesus exemplified His teaching in Matthew 20:25-28 that greatness is about service. He said He did not come to be served; rather, He came to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. Coming down as a man was humble enough but even as a man he humbled himself even more. He once stripped off His garment, put on a towel and washed the feet of His disciples, John 13:4-5. His willingness to suffer and die a shameful death on the cross for you and me was another manifestation of His awesome, yet humble character. Because we have Christ in us and because God has made us just like Him, we have the ability to reflect His kind of humility also. He is the Head and we are the Body. The same humility that flows in Christ the Head flows in us His Body. We have the ability to maintain the humble heart of a servant and to take on any form that is necessary so that we can serve and be a blessing unto others. You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. As you yield yourself more to the Holy Spirit, this character of humility that is already in you will continue to develop and more of Christ’s humility will be seen in you. You will be pleasing to God and God’s grace and blessings will abound in your life.

Prayer Focus: Thank God for the humility of Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit will produce more of Christ’s humility in you.
