The Spiritual Warfare of Discipleship & Ministry

2Corinthians 10:3-5: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

In 2Timothy 2:1-4, Apostle Paul instructed Timothy about raising disciples to adequately teach and disciple others. Interestingly, his comments to Timothy referred to him being a good soldier of Christ and referred to war. Remember that we are in a spiritual battle for the souls of men. Although the devil is carrying out his agenda through so many subtle and strategic ways, God is also powerfully carrying out His agenda through you and I, His servants and ministers.
The major weapon Apostle Paul refers to in our text above is the Word of God. Every time your mind is renewed by the Word of God, the Kingdom of God is advanced in your life. The Word of God saves our souls, James 1:21. This is why the devil will do everything to attack the preaching and study of the Word of God. It is for this reason that we must be committed to the study and preaching of the Word of God.
This is precisely why in Ephesians 6:19, Apostle Paul implores believers to pray for him for utterance and boldness to declare the mystery of the gospel. 2Thessalonians 3:1-2 says, finally, brethren, pray for ‘us’, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. God will grant us more victory in this spiritual warfare for our souls and the souls of men.

Prayer Focus: Ask God today for more empowerment for yourself and all believers and ministers of the gospel. Pray for greater victory in the salvation and transformation of the lives of men by His Word.
