Matthew 7:12, Luke 6:38, Colossians 3:23: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. *Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. *And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.
Love is one of the most powerful principles of the Kingdom of God. 1Corinthians 13:2 says that without love we are nothing. The greatest way we imitate God is by walking in love, Eph.5:1-2. When Jesus said we should treat men as we want them to treat us, He did not mean that the people we treat well are going to repay us in kind. It does not have to be the same people that you sow into that will sow back into you. Your love and giving is unto God and He will be the one to raise people that will give back to you.
Before you respond to any person, ask yourself how you would love to be treated if you were in that person’s position. Then, express that love as if you were expressing it unto Christ the Lord. Christ Himself will bless and reward you for it.
In Matthew 5:46-47, Jesus said that if we only love those that love us then we are not different from others. We are to love like God. We are to pray for others and desire good for them no matter what their attitude is towards us, Matt.5:44. If Jesus asked us to pray for our enemies, then there must be a kingdom blessing in doing so. He would not call us to do something that He has not equipped us to be able to do. We do not have to maintain close fellowship with people who hate us but we are not to hate them in return. We are to ask God to forgive them for they know not what they are doing. The grace to keep walking and growing in love is
