1Timothy 6:10-11: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which
while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God,
flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith,
love, patience, meekness.
How much value do you place on the goodly character and values of our Christian faith? In an era where godly values are becoming increasingly scarce, we must place more value on the things that God places high value on.
God sees the heart. He loves justice and righteousness. He wants us to be holy as He is holy. The only things some people regard as substance are wealth and material things. However, there are many other things that are much more valuable than wealth and material things in this life and in the sight of God. Godliness is priceless. It is actually the true path to real wealth in life.
Wealth obtained from vices does not endure. Only wealth obtained from godly virtues and character endure even to future generations. If you also consider obtaining wealth the reason for your godliness, you are serving mammon and not God. Your belly (appetite) is not your God, Phil.3:17- 19. Loving money above God will surely lead to your destruction. But loving and honouring God above all things will save your soul. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and other things will be added unto you, Matt.6:33. You will not lack as you make God your shepherd indeed. He will lead you in the path of righteousness and restore your soul, Psa.23:1-3. Yield to God’s Spirit in you and let Him develop His fruit (character and nature in your life, Gal.5:22-23. Continue to value godliness, keep promoting it and passing it unto your children and the lives of those around you.
Prayer Focus: Tell God today that you desire to increase in godliness and the fruit of the Spirit.
